I just wish I had known then what I know now…
I could have changed the lives and health of those I loved with chiropractic and Koren Specific Technique earlier.
I first got involved with chiropractic as a high school student contemplating career opportunities in health care. An older cousin was enrolled in chiropractic school at the time, so I was lucky enough to have first-hand information about his intriguing studies. While in college myself I was looking for a career in which I could combine my interest in science with my love of helping people. Chiropractic seemed the natural choice, no pun intended!
After my undergraduate studies and work in food research and development I completed my doctorate in chiropractic at Logan College of Chiropractic in 1996. While at Logan I earned the Health Center Achievement Award, awarded for exemplary clinical performance & academic excellence to the best student clinician in the college health center. I am committed to attending seminars and building on the knowledge of what makes a person well. I am currently working on a post-doctorate as a Certified Chiropractic Wellness Provider.
My philosophy is straightforward. It is my hope to help as many people as possible to experience life to its fullest. Chiropractic deals with the brain & nervous system and everyone lives their life through this system. Avoiding drugs and surgery by using conservative chiropractic care helps to allow the body to heal itself. It is extremely satisfying to facilitate that process and see grandparents live a more active life and children to abandon inhalers, focus again at school, and return to playing outside or return to the sports they love. I relish the pleasure of adjusting a baby just after birth and setting that child on the path to health and full expression of life.
Family Chiropractic Practice
Ours is a family practice. Since I was introduced to chiropractic as a teenager, I have special interest in working with children. I’m always delighted to help a youngster and possibly prevent some of the problems I see in our adult practice members. Prevention makes a lot of sense, especially these days with the rising cost of disease treatment.
After completing my national boards I began a private practice in Kingston, MA. I was very proud to see my sister soon graduate from Logan College of Chiropractic and she joined me in practice. She continues to be my personal chiropractor and most trusted second opinion. After several years of working together our practice was expanding and I started to spend more time vacationing in Maine. After falling in love with the area I made the decision to move here in 2004 when I purchased a practice in Livermore Falls. Five years later we built our new clinic in Jay.
Family, Hobbies and Community
When not in the office I enjoy traveling, kayaking Maine waters and relaxing with a good book in the company of my three cats. My wife and I are active in the local Jay-Livermore Falls Lions Club. We are proud that our daughter Dr. Ella Coffren carries on the chiropractic tradition after graduation from Logan in her practice in Westbrook, Maine.
I truly enjoy running and watching the wildlife Western Maine has to offer. I follow Weston Price nutrition guidelines. I don’t take any prescription drugs and refuse all vaccinations. I rarely take any over the counter pain relievers and focus on hydration, essential oils and regular chiropractic care. It is a wonderful benefit of using Koren Specific Technique that I can adjust myself to supplement between chiropractic adjustments from my sister, Dr. Kate and Dr. Ella.
